Being about 20 minutes from both the Golden Gate Bridge and Treasure Island, the Clarendon Heights neighborhood serves as the central point to the entire city of San Francisco. Its proximity to some of the greatest spots in San Francisco, however, isn't the only thing that draws people to this coveted neighborhood.

Although Clarendon Heights is only a single neighborhood within the sprawling city that is San Francisco, it's definitely one of the most coveted. It's not a very large area, but those who live here have a very large spot in their heart for it. Okay, now that the mushy stuff is over, it's time to get down to brass tacks. The value of homes or even a one bedroom apartment in Clarendon Heights is much higher than that in the rest of San Francisco, so it's imperative that you're prepared when attempting to move here.

When to start looking

You should start looking for an apartment as soon as you decide to move to Clarendon Heights. This is a relatively small neighborhood, and not many people who get the chance to call it 'home' will willfully move elsewhere. The real issue, though, is finding a place that you want. Many individuals seek out individual rental homes, but in Clarendon, most of these residencies are occupied by owners. But when it comes to homes or complexes with two or more residencies, renters are the majority.

When to make the move

The weather in San Francisco, and thus Clarendon Heights, is quite pleasant and really won't get in the way of moving during any time of the year. Though it should be noted that tourism and business trips increase in the area July through August and then again from September through October. Unless you're crazy enough to enjoy fighting your way through traffic, especially while moving, it's smart to avoid these times if possible.

What to bring along

If you're living in Clarendon Heights, you're living in style. The difficult part, though, will be landing a place. Make sure you bring along proof of income and employment in the area. This will let the landlord know that you're not a deadbeat. Of course, most people bring this along, so you can really make yourself stand out by having prior landlord referrals and even a credit check on hand. This is San Francisco for crying out loud! If you're not going to stand out, what's the point?

Though only a few thousand feet wide at any given point and mostly composed of residential areas, Clarendon Heights still has quite a few things to offer. Due to certain features of the area, in fact, the neighborhood remains one of the most prominent in all of San Francisco. Sure, there are plenty of areas you could live in San Francisco; but since we all love being the center of attention and Clarendon Heights is the center of San Fran, it all works out in the end.

Sutro Reservoir: The Sutro Reservoir is located in the southwestern most point of the Clarendon Heights neighborhood. We know, if doesn't seem as if there would be any home rentals around a reservoir, but in reality, lines of homes nearly completely surround the reservoir. Add that to the bus stops around Dellbrook Avenue and Panorama Drive, and you've got a little spot worth living in.

Sutro Tower: When completed in 1973, the Sutro Tower became a prominent piece of the San Franciscan skyline, but just because it's a mainstay in the city doesn't mean that there are residencies around it. But fret not; all of the homes and apartment complexes should be far enough away to prevent radiation from causing a third arm to grow out of your back. If dealing with the tower is a bit much for you, just remember that everyone in the city has to see it; and at least you've got Christmas Tree Point nearby to make everything okay.

Northern Clarendon Heights: Although Northern Clarendon Heights is also highly residential, it has a few perks that the other areas of the neighborhood don't. The Wine Education Center, for instance, is located here. While that definitely seems like an advantage, your boss is likely to never believe you when you call in sick again. Maybe you should just check out the Twin Peaks Reservoir instead. That won't keep you out of work, and you'll be able to keep up rent on whichever one of the luxury apartments you settled on.

When looking at most neighborhoods in America, people don't wonder "What is there to do in this neighborhood?" This, of course, is because they're used to focusing on the city in general. Well Clarendon Heights isn't like most neighborhoods in America, and San Francisco definitely isn't like most cities. So if you're not too busy chomping at the bit over what you've already read, which you should be, you'll love the things you can get into in and around Clarendon Heights.

Safety at Every Corner

Most people love how close they are to a hospital in Clarendon Heights. Both Laguna Honda Hospital and the medical offices around the University of California mean you're always within reach of medical help. Just don't try to climb Sutro Tower. You'll probably need more than medical help.

Though you might not have noticed due to all of the awesomeness that is Clarendon Heights, but by living here, you're privy to everything that is San Francisco. Whether you want easy access to the Metro stations close proximity to the Golden Gate Park and other natural beauties, you're pretty much covered here.

Minimal Through Traffic

Although there are a few businesses within the Clarendon Heights neighborhood, the majority of the area is highly residential. Additionally, any of the available services in Clarendon Heights are undoubtedly easily available in other areas. This all greatly reduces the number of non-locals who drive through the area, and in the end, this means you might not have to let your neighbors see your road rage too soon.
