The best thing about living here is how much you can do without ever touching your car keys. The U District is one of those rare Seattle spots where you're actually central to everything. On the weekends, you can bike over to Green Lake in 10 minutes or wander through the farmers markets in nearby Ballard and Fremont. If you want to head downtown or to a game, the Light Rail is a total lifesaver--it's about 10 minutes to Capitol Hill and 20 to the stadiums. It's a busy, vibrant area with plenty of dive bars and music venues, but you've also got quick access to I-5 if you just need to get out of the city and head toward the mountains for a day.
