Garden-style apartments and townhomes with historic character define this community originally built as defense housing during WWII. The adjacent Shirlington Village offers a walkable mix of restaurants, shops, and a movie theater creating urban amenities without downtown density. Metrobus connections provide car-free commuting options to Pentagon and DC employment centers, while the neighborhood's central location offers quick access to both Alexandria and Arlington amenities.
Spectacular views define Radnor/Fort Myer Heights, where this distinctive Arlington neighborhood's elevated position captures dramatic DC skyline panoramas with the Washington Monument and Capitol visible from many properties. Rental options include both mid-century buildings with character details and luxury high-rises with premium amenities. While the area offers exceptional access to both Rosslyn Metro connections and the Iwo Jima Memorial, the premium views come with corresponding rental rates ranking among Arlington's highest. Well-suited for professionals working in DC who value scenic surroundings and convenient commuting options who can justify premium rates for location, views, and accessibility to both urban amenities and major employers.
Urban energy defines Ballston-Virginia Square, where Arlington's Orange Line corridor offers genuine city living minutes from DC via Metro. The walkable district features contemporary high-rises with ground-floor restaurants creating vibrant street life unusual for typically suburban-oriented Northern Virginia communities. Though rental rates reflect the premium location, excellent public transportation reducing or eliminating vehicle expenses, exceptional walkability to both everyday amenities and entertainment options, and strategic positioning between multiple employment centers typically justifies the investment for professionals seeking urban convenience without DC's extreme housing costs increasingly requiring substantial financial compromises beyond individual earning capabilities.
