Are there any good apartment recommendations for someone looking to rent in East Austin or The Domain?

I would look at Sentral maybe for elevated living, other places are called luxury but fail to deliver

Not sure a lot of places are are old n need to upgrade. But my experience in apartment I gotta say Salado made me feel welcome coming from losing everything in house fire

East Austin is known for it's eclectic , arts. The domain is a master plan upscale neighborhood in north Austin known for it's shopping vibe, with a mix of historic homes and modern apartments

Gracy farms is my first apartment in this area. So far it’s been great.

Is Living in Downtown Austin Worth It?

Very much so. I moved from COS, CO and I feel like I received 5 raises to go along with my promotion.

Just depends on person and preferences. I have many friends living downtown and all have different incomes, different lives, jobs, etc., but love it down there.

Depends on your reason for living there. Its not worth it if you just do the usual grocery store, errands, work, then home routine. But if are active, then I'd say it has exactly what you are looking for. I would be picky though as not all parts of Austin are created equal.

If you work downtown, can afford it and don’t want to commute and deal with traffic, sure!

The new L.A. basically. It’s better to get here early nowadays and get on the ball to establishing yourself because it’s definitely the place to be for opportunities.

Austin area along is a nice vibe with lots to do.

Welcome to the Apartment List July 2026 Rent Report for Austin, TX. Currently, the overall median rent in the city stands at $1,316, after rising 0.5% last month. Prices remain down 4.6% year-over-year. Read on to learn more about what’s been happening in the Austin rental market and how it compares to trends throughout the broader Austin metro area and the nation as a whole.

Austin Renter Confidence Survey

National study of renter’s satisfaction with their cities and states

Here’s how Austin ranks on:

Overview of Findings

Apartment List has released Austin’s results from the third annual Apartment List Renter Satisfaction Survey. This survey, which drew on responses from over 45,000 renters, provides insight on what states and cities must do to meet the needs of 111 million American renters nationwide.

Austin renters expressed general satisfaction with the city overall," according to Apartment List. "However, ratings varied greatly across different categories, indicating that even though renters love Austin, some aspects can be better."

Key findings in Austin include the following:

Austin renters gave their city an A- overall.
The highest-rated categories for Austin were jobs and career opportunities and state and local taxes, which both received A+ grades.
The areas of concern to Austin renters are commute time and public transit, which both received D grades.
Millennial renters are very satisfied (A), while renters who are parents are equally satisfied (A+).
Austin did relatively well compared to other cities in Texas, including Houston (B+) and Dallas (B).
Austin earned similar scores to other Southern cities such as Charlotte, NC (A-), Charleston, SC (A-) and Nashville, TN (A-).
The top rated cities nationwide for renter satisfaction include Scottsdale, AZ, Irvine, CA, Boulder, CO and Ann Arbor, MI. The lowest rated cities include Tallahassee, FL, Stockton, CA, Dayton, OH, Detroit, MI and Newark, NJ.
