Bronzeville is a mecca of American history located to the southside of Chicago, Illinois, only a few miles south of downtown. The principal attraction for both visitors and residents is the neighborhood's rich history. At one time, 47th Street was regarded as the blues music capital of the world. Bronzeville possesses a particularly varying climate due to its mid-continent placement. The summers are hot and humid, while the winters vary between cool and cold. The Bronzeville neighborhood, although at one time a haven for night time partying and festivity, no longer offers quite the same level of entertainment. Nevertheless, there are still a number of bars and clubs, notably so on the 47th Street strip, for those who prefer to kick back and chill while downing a few glasses of refreshingly cool beer. The current population of Bronzeville is 31,330, according to the 2010 census.
