Energy deregulation affects this part of Chicago, allowing residents to have a choice between energy companies. When it comes to cable and Internet companies, there are tons to choose from, including Broadband Interactive, Satellites Enterprise and Nettv Plus. Get picky! To set up recycling, trash and water services, you'll need to contact the City of Chicago.

As for rental houses, they are plentiful in every neighborhood! Whether you are looking for a month-to-month deal, a studio apartment or three-bedroom houses for rent, Albany Park has got you covered. Rental homes in Horner and California Park are the most expensive, while the rest of the small neighborhoods within Albany Park tend to list for more or less the same price. Apartment complexes are more plentiful in the City Center, although a few can be found near the University section and south towards Horner. Many of the classic buildings throughout this neighborhood date from the first half of the 20th century, but these are well-maintained both inside and out.

There are four basic sections of Albany Park: La Bagh Woods and Montrose, the University and College section, Horner and California Park, and Albany Park Center. La Bagh Woods and Montrose, located in the northwest of Albany Park, is a large green space filled with several parks, woods, and the Montrose Cemetery and Crematorium. Living in this part of town is not for those afraid of ghosts! As for the University and College section, this is comprised of the Northeastern Illinois University and the Northside College Preparatory High School, wedged between the two diverging branches of the North Chicago Branch River.

The Horner and California Park neighborhood is located in the bottom southeast corner of Albany Park, right next to the river. This is a pretty residential area with plenty of amenities and it's away from the downtown hustle and bustle. Albany Park Center is where residents come to do their shopping, eat out and mingle with other citizens of Albany Park. This is the social center of this neighborhood. Houses and apartments are available for rent here as well as in the other, more residential parts of town.

Here's the coolest thing about Albany Park: the insane mix of the most amazing cuisines that the world has to offer. That's what happens when you live in a neighborhood full of people from all kinds of cultures! Seriously, there is no way to get bored about mealtime when you live here. It's just not possible.

So what's on the menu? Mexican, from La Taqueria LP Express or Ay Ay Picante. Yemeni, from YEMEN Restaurant. American-style, huge breakfasts, lunches and dinners from the Mayfair Restaurant. Chinese from Peking Mandarin or Cafe Orient 33. Middle Eastern cafe goodies at Salam. Chilean from El Chile. Columbian from Brasa Roja. Serbian at Sarajevo Restaurant. Peruvian food from D'Candela Restaurant. And so, so much more! Seriously! Japanese, Thai, Italian, anything you want, you'll find it in Albany Park. It's so good, and so plentiful, you might just forget how to cook dinner for yourself.

If the great food, pretty homes and beautiful parks weren't enough, how about the home values? They are still quite affordable, and they are on the rise. A home investment now would be set to increase quite a bit over the next 10 or so years, especially considering how popular this Chicago neighborhood is. Moreover, if you lived here, you could adopt a walking stick and monocle, or a floral 1940s house dress, and walk up and down the brick row houses pretending to be lost in time. Always fun.

Seriously though, Albany Park is always highly rated by its own residents for being social and friendly, as well as having a great public transportation system. If you aren't crazy about living in the center of Chicago, why not join everyone else here in the haven that is Albany Park?
