"Albany, that once stood high over Norton Green. Albany, whose mighty walls the people sheltered under. Albany, proud symbol set in the Highlands free." - From "Albany" by Roger Whittaker
Albany Park is a very popular neighborhood on the northwest side of Chicago, Illinois. Originally a small farming community, it started to grow in the 18th century due to local horse racing and the success of a large commercial farm. Annexed by Chicago in 1889, Albany Park was soon connected to the city with public transportation to support the influx of residents. Today, Albany Park is one of the most culturally diverse areas in the United States with at least 40 different languages spoken in this neighborhood.
