  • Map of Urbandale Nations

    Urbandale Nations

What's it like to live in Urbandale Nations?

Just west of downtown, Urbandale Nations offers the perfect blend of Nashville accessibility without tourist district congestion. Converted warehouses and new mid-rises provide industrial-chic living spaces with character absent in cookie-cutter apartments. The neighborhood's walkable brewery district means weekend entertainment without designated driver concerns. Unlike trendier areas, street parking remains reasonable, and most newer buildings include dedicated spots. When friends visit, you're close enough to Broadway to enjoy the tourist experience but far enough to escape when it's time for actual sleep.

    Heron Walk

What's it like to live in Heron Walk?

Renters appreciate Heron Walk's blend of accessibility and suburban calm, where garden-style apartments and townhomes offer more space than downtown options without sacrificing convenience. The neighborhood's proximity to Percy Priest Lake provides weekend recreation just minutes away, while dedicated bus routes connect to downtown entertainment districts without parking hassles. Units typically feature unexpected storage space and private patios rare in urban settings, though summer evenings sometimes bring lake mosquitoes requiring screen door vigilance. Many properties include washer/dryer connections—a significant upgrade from coin laundry alternatives elsewhere.

    Whitebridge

What's it like to live in Whitebridge?

Suburban consistency defines Whitebridge, where 1990s colonial-style homes near Nashville Shores waterpark provide family-friendly environments with cul-de-sac safety. Identical floorplans frustrate creative decorators but ensure predictable layouts that simplify furniture shopping. Old Hickory Boulevard traffic creates rush-hour congestion requiring strategic commute timing. Summer brings free concerts at Drakes Creek Park, though lawn chairs must be placed early to secure prime viewing locations. The neighborhood's location provides quick access to Percy Priest Lake recreation while maintaining distance from downtown tourism crowds.

Nashville Renter Confidence Survey

National study of renter’s satisfaction with their cities and states

Here’s how Nashville ranks on:

Overview of Findings

Apartment List has released Nashville’s results from the third annual Apartment List Renter Satisfaction Survey. This survey, which drew on responses from over 45,000 renters nationwide, provides insight on what states and cities must do to meet the needs of the country’s 111 million renters.

"Nashville renters expressed general satisfaction with the city overall," according to Apartment List. "However, ratings varied greatly across different categories, indicating that even though rents love Nashville, some aspects can be better."

Key Findings in Nashville include the following:

  • Nashville renters gave their city an A- overall.
  • The highest-rated categories for Nashville were jobs and career opportunities (A), state and local taxes (A-) and recreational activities (A-).
  • The areas of concern to Nashville renters are public transit and affordability, which received D and C scores, respectively.
  • Nashville millennials are very satisfied with their city, giving it an overall rating of A+.
  • Nashville did relatively well compared to other cities in Tennessee, including Memphis (C) and Knoxville (B-).
  • Nashville earned similar scores compared to other cities nationwide like Austin (A-) and Charlotte (A-), and earned higher marks than Portland (B) and Atlanta (B).
  • The top rated cities nationwide for renter satisfaction include Scottsdale, AZ, Irvine, CA, Boulder, CO and Ann Arbor, MI. The lowest rated cities include Tallahassee, FL, Stockton, CA, Dayton, OH, Detroit, MI and Newark, NJ.

Renters say:

  • "Nashville is growing and it’s an exciting time to be here. The cost of living is increasing, but so is the city’s profile." -William H.
  • "There’s always something to do here (and with plenty of options for great food). Everyone is friendly, but with so many residents, Nashville traffic is a real problem." -Erica K.
  • "I love all the activities, but I hate that there’s no good public transportation system." -Nigel S.
