Property DescriptionRich architectural character meets generous, flexible living at 643 Tennyson Avenue, a distinctive California Mediterranean residence in Old Palo Alto. Offering approximately 5,400 square feet with six bedrooms and four baths, the home brings together finely crafted interiors, inviting gathering spaces, and mature gardens shaded by towering redwoods.
Previously featured in California Home & Design, the residence was built by Sam Benzacar of Creative Habitat to combine Old World character with the comfort and livability of a modern home. Hand-carved doors, French limestone, arched openings, wrought-iron detailing, and a clay tile roof give the property its enduring architectural appeal. Inside, plastered walls, custom millwork, hardwood and stone flooring, and skylights continue that attention to detail.
The main level balances gracious formal living and dining rooms with comfortable spaces for everyday life. A generously proportioned kitchen offers extensive cabinetry and ample preparation space, connecting to the adjoining family room and outdoor areas. A main-level bedroom and full bath provide flexibility for guests or a private home office. Additional comfort features include an automatic whole-home fresh-air ventilation system providing controlled ventilation throughout the residence.
Upstairs, the spacious primary retreat features a fireplace and a beautifully appointed bath. Additional bedrooms and private balconies provide places to unwind, with tall windows bringing natural light and garden views into the home.
The lower level adds a second family or recreation room, a distinctive wine cellar, an office area, laundry facilities, and storage, with flexible space for fitness and other activities. The layout allows work, recreation, and entertaining to have their own settings within the home.
Outside, a broad rear terrace and established gardens create an inviting setting for outdoor dining and quiet afternoons beneath the redwoods. The grounds complement the home's Mediterranean character and extend its living spaces outdoors.
The Old Palo Alto location offers convenient access to Stanford University, Downtown Palo Alto, Stanford Shopping Center, and destinations throughout the Peninsula.
Palo Alto public schools include Walter Hays Elementary School, Greene Middle School, and Palo Alto High School. Tenant to verify school assignment and enrollment eligibility.
Off-street driveway parking is available; the detached garage at the end of the driveway is reserved exclusively for owner storage and is excluded from the leased premises.
