National study of renter’s satisfaction with their cities and states
Apartment List has released Tulsa’s results from the third annual Apartment List Renter Satisfaction Survey. This survey, which drew on responses from over 45,000 renters nationwide, provides insight on what states and cities must do to meet the needs of the country’s 111 million renters.
"Tulsa renters expressed general dissatisfaction with the city overall," according to Apartment List. "Some categories received above average scores, but many received average grades."

Walkable charm defines Brookside, where this distinctive Tulsa neighborhood centers around a vibrant commercial district with local restaurants and boutique shops. Rental options include converted historic homes and smaller apartment buildings throughout this tree-lined district. While the area offers exceptional access to both the Arkansas River trails and the developing Peoria Avenue corridor, the popularity has pushed rental rates higher as the neighborhood continues attracting new residents. Well-suited for professionals and empty nesters who value walkable amenities and genuine neighborhood character who don't mind paying premium rates for increasingly coveted locations outside downtown proper.
International diversity energizes South Peoria, where Tulsa's global community creates authentic multicultural experiences beyond typical Oklahoma expectations. The district features international markets and restaurants representing cuisines from across Southeast Asia, Mexico, and beyond, reflecting the area's remarkably diverse population. Though some commercial corridors show varied investment levels, the residential streets maintain stable community character with multi-generational families creating welcome continuity. The neighborhood's affordability compared to northern Tulsa districts creates excellent value for those appreciating cultural authenticity beyond cosmetic renovations, with reasonable commutes to both downtown employment and riverside recreation without corresponding rental premiums affecting more established districts.
Park Plaza East III/IV offers predictable quality with excellent access to major Tulsa employers and shopping districts. These specific apartment communities feature consistent layouts with established management providing reliable rental experiences. While these developments offer good access to both Woodland Hills Mall shopping and major highways connecting to downtown, the standardized nature means less architectural character than historic districts despite the convenient location. Most suitable for renters seeking straightforward housing experiences without the maintenance concerns or character quirks of older properties who prioritize reliability and convenience over distinctive settings or architectural significance.
