Apartment List has released Omaha’s results from the third annual Apartment List Renter Satisfaction Survey. This survey, which drew on responses from over 45,000 renters nationwide, provides insight on what states and cities must do to meet the needs of the country’s 111 million renters.
"Omaha renters expressed general satisfaction with the city overall," according to Apartment List. "However, ratings varied greatly across different categories, indicating that even though renters love Omaha, some aspects can be better."

Omaha's oldest neighborhood boasts stunning Victorian mansions alongside modest worker cottages, many converted into unique apartments with period details you won't find elsewhere. A short walk to the Old Market entertainment district puts dozens of restaurants and shops within reach. While street parking can be challenging and some historic buildings lack modern amenities like central air, the neighborhood's charm and downtown proximity make these trade-offs worthwhile for many. Particularly appealing to young professionals and history buffs who prefer character over contemporary finishes.
Historic character defines Blackstone, where Omaha's central district showcases architectural diversity from Craftsman to Prairie Style alongside the developing Farnam Street entertainment corridor. The walkable neighborhood surrounds the University of Nebraska Medical Center, attracting healthcare professionals seeking minimal commutes. Though some properties show their age with vintage quirks, the combination of architectural distinction, walkable amenities, and central positioning creates compelling value compared to newer construction lacking similar character and established landscaping increasingly rare in rapidly developing sections.
Revitalized energy pulses through Aksarben-Elmwood Park, where this dynamic Omaha neighborhood showcases successful urban redevelopment transforming former fairgrounds into vibrant mixed-use environments. Rental options range from distinctive converted buildings to purpose-built apartments creating diverse housing opportunities across multiple price points. The walkable district surrounds Stinson Park with its popular concert series and events programming, while nearby commercial corridors feature restaurants, specialty shops, and entertainment venues creating genuine pedestrian environments unusual for typically automobile-dependent Midwestern cities increasingly valued as lifestyle considerations continue affecting housing decisions beyond purely economic calculations reflecting growing appreciation for walkable urbanism beyond purely suburban development patterns dominating much of Omaha's expanding housing market.
