Southern charm flourishes in Midtown Savannah, where Victorian and Craftsman homes create architectural diversity beyond the more famous historic district. Residents enjoy Forsyth Park's farmers market and the neighborhood's tree-canopied streets perfect for evening strolls. Though tourist attention focuses on downtown, locals appreciate Midtown's authenticity and walkable access to Habersham Village's restaurants and shops. The area's established gardens featuring camellias and azaleas create spectacular spring displays, while wraparound porches foster neighborhood connections during evening cocktail hours.
Urban revival energizes Metropolitan, where this Savannah district combines historic properties with newer development at more accessible rates than the tourist-oriented historic district. Rental options include apartments in converted commercial buildings and renovated homes from various eras. The neighborhood provides excellent access to both downtown employment and developing commercial corridors, though some blocks remain in various stages of revitalization.
Historic elegance defines Downtown Savannah, where the distinctive squares system creates America's most walkable historic district with extraordinary architectural significance. Though primarily vacation rentals, some long-term opportunities exist in historic buildings and carriage houses throughout the landmark district. While the neighborhood offers unmatched access to restaurants, shops, and Forsyth Park, tourism creates seasonal patterns affecting everyday livability with parking challenges for residents without dedicated spaces. Particularly appealing to history enthusiasts and urban professionals who appreciate extraordinary architectural surroundings and don't mind occasional tourist crowds in exchange for living in a national treasure.
