National study of renter’s satisfaction with their cities and states
Apartment List has released results for the Bronx from the second annual Apartment List Renter Satisfaction Survey. The survey, which drew on responses from over 30,000 renters, provides insight into what states and cities must do to meet the needs of the 105 million American renters nationwide.
Perched at the Bronx's northwestern edge, Kingsbridge rewards renters with more affordable rates than neighboring Riverdale despite similar amenities. The community's rich Irish and Dominican heritage shines through in authentic restaurants and specialty shops along Broadway. Subway access via the 1 train provides direct Manhattan connectivity, while the nearby Jerome Park Reservoir offers unexpected outdoor recreation unusual for urban Bronx neighborhoods.
Practical renters discover extraordinary value in Wakefield, where prewar apartment buildings offer significantly more space than trendy neighborhoods for a fraction of the price. The neighborhood sits at the Bronx's northern edge with quick Metro-North access to both Manhattan and Westchester employment, creating versatile commuting options beyond subway dependency. Most buildings include elevator service and laundry facilities – features commanding premium prices in Manhattan. The nearby Woodlawn Cemetery provides unexpected natural beauty with walking paths through immaculately maintained grounds, while Van Cortlandt Park offers extensive recreation facilities including New York's oldest public golf course.
