Property Description117 Furman Avenue offers four bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, generous living spaces, and the character of an older Asheville home, all in a convenient location near downtown. Original hardwood floors, substantial wood trim, French doors, large windows, built-in cabinetry, and other period details give the home a warmth and personality that are increasingly difficult to find.
The main level offers an unusually flexible amount of living space. A large central living room features hardwood floors and a painted brick fireplace, with French doors connecting to adjoining rooms that can be arranged as a formal dining room, home office, den, second sitting room, or whatever configuration works best for your household. A bright, window-filled room provides another inviting place to relax, work, or enjoy the natural light, while the home's numerous windows keep the interior feeling open and connected to the mature surroundings outside.
The kitchen retains the home's traditional character while providing plenty of practical storage and workspace. It includes an electric range, refrigerator, dishwasher, abundant cabinetry, and a large center island with breakfast-bar seating. Built-in storage throughout the kitchen and adjoining spaces adds functionality without sacrificing the home's original charm.
All four bedrooms are located upstairs and continue the hardwood flooring and substantial original woodwork found throughout the home. One bedroom includes a private bathroom with a shower, double vanity, and large closet. The additional full bathroom is located off the hall and includes a tub/shower combination. A half bathroom on the main level provides additional convenience.
Outside, the property is surrounded by mature trees and established landscaping, with a spacious backyard offering plenty of room to enjoy the outdoors. A covered front porch, shaded lawn, and private-feeling setting add considerably to the appeal while still keeping the home close to downtown Asheville.
The home is heated by a natural gas boiler with radiator heat. Washer and dryer are located in the basement and are shared with the downstairs apartment. Landscaping, natural gas, water, sewer, and garbage are included in the rent; tenants are responsible for electricity.
Up to two pets are permitted with a $250 refundable pet deposit per pet. Sorry, no co-signers.
