When Normandy Park was established in the 1920s, it was planned to be a town built strictly in French Normandy style.
There are only 6,335 people living in Normandy Park, a city in King County. It's only a short distance from Downtown Seattle to the north, easily reachable up route 509, and is a stone's throw from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. There are also several other settlements and towns in the area, such as Des Moines to the south and Renton to the east, while slightly further to the east you'll find Cougar Mountain Regional Wildlife Park and Tiger Mountain State Forest.
Moving to Normandy Park
A lot of people living in Normandy Park commute up to Seattle each day to work, which certainly makes the housing market a little more competitive. Of course, in a big city like Seattle you'll be able to earn more money, which means that housing is going to be slightly higher prices as well. Both home rentals and apartment rentals aren't going to come cheap in the city, so be prepared to accumulate a decent deposit to secure the property, as well as enough to cover your first month's rent. Needless to say, this will be higher if you're renting a house, and there is a high proportion of single-family detached housing in the city, but also about 20 percent worth of apartment buildings, so one and two bedrooms apartments for rent are available.
Neighborhoods in Normandy Park
Normandy Park only has a single neighborhood, and the city has a WalkScore of 45, meaning people there are generally car-dependent and most errands require a vehicle of some kind. If you want to find apartments in Normandy Park then you're more likely to find them on the eastern edge along Route 509 heading north. The entire area is primarily residential, with Nature Trails Park in the center and the waterfront of Puget Sound offering some outdoor options for those who enjoy biking, walking, boating, and so on.
Living in Normandy Park
The city of Normandy Park is largely a residential haven, with rentals homes prolific throughout, and doesn't contain a great deal of amenities of its own. In general, to go shopping or dining you're going to need to travel out of the neighborhood and into the surrounding area where options are more plentiful. That said, you will find a few places of note, such as Arcadia, Kayak, and Good Time Ernie's in the region if you're looking for food or a drink. Travel by foot is difficult, but there are several major roads heading north to Seattle for those who commute and who like to visit the city for shopping days out and other recreational fun.
