Moving to Ruskin
Move here in the summer and everything besides the weather will be a breeze. Lots of people flock down here in the winter to escape the northern cold, but in the hot summer it will feel relatively empty and you’ll have your choice of homes for rent or city apartments.
Find a broker or contact landlords directly and be prepared to show them all your necessary paperwork – bank statements, credit report, proof of income, etc. Bring your checkbook, too, in case you find your dream home that day!
Neighborhoods
Ruskin is a tiny place with a few tiny neighborhoods, mainly divided around Route 41 and proximity to the river.
Route 41 / 19th Ave: This is one of the more expensive areas to live in Ruskin, but still cheap compared to the rest of the country. It’s mostly occupied by owners, and a lot of it is seasonal housing. Many apartment units remain empty for some portion of the year. And bonus, it is right along the coast of the river. $$$
Town Center: This is a great place to find apartments for rent, especially if you like city apartments. The Town Center area has a high vacancy rate due to the seasonal housing, and boasts quite a few nice apartment complexes. $$
Route 41 / College Ave: Prices drop even more around here and there are plenty of vacant apts for rent and condos for rent. It’s right off the main road, which is great for accessibility but can get a bit noisy at times. $$
Living in Ruskin
Ruskin is home to famous pop stars Nick Carter and Aaron Carter -- and there's no question why, since it's since a pretty, sunshiny suburban area. Warm weather is definitely a draw here, and people who like to spend time outside will be happy calling this place home. It's also a great place for history buffs, surprisingly; the city is home to the historic A. P. Dickman House, the George McA. Miller House, and and a real, life fossil deposit.
