Apartment List has released Philadelphia’s results from the third annual Apartment List Renter Satisfaction Survey. This survey, which drew on responses from over 45,000 renters nationwide, provides insight on what states and cities must do to meet the needs of the country’s 111 million renters.
"Philadelphia renters expressed satisfaction with the city overall," according to Apartment List. "However, there seems to be a discrepancy between renters who are parents, who are unsatisfied (F), and millennial renters (C)."

Cobbs Creek features historic homes surrounding its namesake park with running trails and recreation facilities. Rental options include charming rowhouses and apartments in smaller buildings at remarkably accessible rates compared to eastern Philadelphia neighborhoods. The neighborhood provides excellent transit access to both University City and downtown employment via trolley and subway connections, creating a perfect compromise between affordability and accessibility.
Northern Liberties pulses with creative energy where this distinctive Philadelphia neighborhood showcases converted industrial buildings alongside thoughtful new construction just minutes from Center City. Renters enjoy remarkable walkability to both innovative restaurants and boutique shopping with genuine urban character beyond purely residential districts. Parking challenges affect properties without dedicated spaces, but urban enthusiasts appreciate both the neighborhood's distinctive atmosphere and strategic positioning between Fishtown's entertainment district and Center City employment with multiple transit options despite premium rental rates reflecting the area's popularity among young professionals and creative types seeking authentic Philadelphia character.
Not just hipster heaven anymore, Fishtown now attracts everyone from creative professionals to young families seeking Philadelphia's most dynamic neighborhood. Former factories and corner taprooms now house coffee roasters and craft breweries, creating genuine walkable living rare in car-dependent cities. The neighborhood's iconic row homes maintain their historic exteriors while featuring thoroughly modernized interiors – the perfect blend of character and comfort. Frankford Avenue's commercial corridor offers everything from vintage vinyl to gourmet groceries without requiring vehicle trips, while the Market-Frankford Line provides downtown access without parking drama. One insider tip: rentals just north of York Street generally offer better value with only slightly longer walks to the hottest destinations.
