Got salt? The Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park is a mere two miles from Jasmine Estates. It is not a source of sodium rather a state park home to fish, wildlife and other great outdoor activities.
Jasmine Estates is a census-designated place (CDP) located about an hour north of Tampa. It had a population just under 19,000 according to the 2010 United States Census, and is a popular place to live for commuters to Tampa. Jasmine Estates is closely associated with the city of New Port Richey, where many of Jasmine Estates' residents do their shopping and spend their leisure time. Jasmine Estates is well-known for its awe-inspiring views of the Gulf of Mexico and close proximity to the Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park.
Moving to Jasmine Estates
Jasmine Estates is considered one of the best places to live in the Greater Metropolitan Area of Tampa. In addition to having gorgeous architecture and views of the Gulf of Mexico, Jasmine Estates benefits from being a primarily residential community with very close and convenient commercial areas. Real estate prices are historically fairly stable in Jasmine Estates. When looking for a rental apartment, be sure to allow for enough time to check out all of the apt for rent options. Because the demand for rental housing in Jasmine Estates has remained fairly stable, it can be difficult to quickly find a place to live.
On the other hand, if you are looking for luxury apartments or townhouses for rent in Jasmine Estates, there are an above-average number of options to choose from. While the price of housing in Jasmine Estates did decline significantly after the 2008 national real estate crash, housing quickly bottomed out and the median home price has gradually increased since that time. If you have never lived in Florida, one thing to consider is the fact that the region can become very humid at certain parts of the year. Yep, you're going to sweat! Although the breeze from the Gulf of Mexico helps to offset this humidity somewhat, it is important to remember that humidity is significantly higher in Florida than in many other parts of the United States. If you are not comfortable with sweating it out or staying in air-conditioned buildings during the hottest part of the day, Jasmine Estates might not be the best place for you to live.
Neighborhoods in Jasmine Estates
Jasmine Estates is considered a part of the Port Richey area. While there are several different neighborhoods to choose from, they can be summed up into three primary categories: northern, southern, and inland.
Scenic Drive and U.S. Route 19: This neighborhood is a lot like the majority of the Gulf-front property in Jasmine Estates. The properties in this neighborhood typically have fantastic views of the Gulf, and many of the homes and apartments have windows facing the gulf to take advantage of their location. When considering a move to Jasmine Estates, this is often the neighborhood that potential residents will check out first. The reputation as a great place to live is well-deserved.
Linger Drive and Limit Drive: This neighborhood is closer to the commercial parts of Port Richey. If you are considering a move to this part of town, make sure you are comfortable with being close to lots of bars and restaurants. Who wouldn't love that? Well, if you're trying to lose weight or turn teetotal, you'd better be good at resisting temptation.
Addison Drive and Bougenville Drive: Addison Drive and Bougenville Drive are centrally located in the "inland" part of the area. Homes here are generally more spread out, and in general it is easier to find available housing here, often for a better value than you might find closer to the Gulf.
Things to do in Jasmine Estates
Residents of Jasmine Estates often take advantage of their close proximity to Tampa. As one of the best cities for nightlife in the region, Tampa has no shortage of things to do on a Friday or Saturday night. However, for those who want to remain closer to home, or who get enough of Tampa during their weekday commutes, there are still plenty of things to do in and around Jasmine Estates. Many residents take advantage of the Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park on a regular basis. Whether you want to get some exercise (jeans getting a little too tight?) or simply get out of the house and enjoy nature, the park is a great place to spend a Saturday afternoon. For those who prefer a more commercialized experience, the Shoppes at Golden Acres offer an upscale and friendly environment for a day of shopping and eating.
New Port Richey is a very short drive from Jasmine Estates, and offers lots to do as well. The city has eight well-maintained parks, which are open to anyone, and several malls and shopping centers. If you are looking for a night out, Fitzgerald's is a very popular bar, and you will typically find it full of regulars and locals. For a more family-friendly environment, Hellas Restaurant offers fantastic Greek food and equally great views of the Bay. If you are looking for a place to live that has breathtaking views of the Gulf of Mexico, is firmly suburban and residential, but still has quick and easy access to a large city like Tampa, Jasmine Estates is an excellent place to consider living.
