Located about four miles north of Fort Lauderdale, Oakland Park is kind of a suburb, kind of its own city, and kind of a vacation beach community. Now let’s sift through all these apartments for rent and find you the new home of your dreams!

What is there to do in Oakland Park? The beach, duh! This is coastal Florida, after all. In fact, if you’re not at the beach every day, you’re doing it wrong. Oakland Park is also smack dab in the middle of the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach metropolitan area, so when you’re not at the beach, you’ve got amazing access to shopping, dining and nightlife. However, the suburban, almost small town feel of the city, has made it a good place to rent.

Like many oceanfront Florida cities, the areas closest to the beach have the most development and most desirable real estate. When looking for rental apartments in this area, check between Dixie Highway and US 1. Many new apartment complexes and condominiums along the coast have beaucoup amenities, including gyms, pools and clubhouses. Two bedrooms in this area generally range from $1600-$1800.

Further west you’ll find much more in terms of inexpensive apartments and rental homes. Unsurprisingly, the older, more established inland apartment complexes cost less than those closer to the beach.Additionally, the far western portions of Oakland Park, close to neighboring Lauderdale Lakes and Palm Aire, also have desirable rentals available. However, there’s no hard and fast rule for inland real estate, so be sure to explore your potential block during the daytime and nighttime to make sure it’s safe. Inland two-bedroom apartments generally range from $1400 to $1600, while inland rental homes can range anywhere from $1500 to $1800.

If you’re looking for rental options, you’ll have a much easier time finding them in beachside communities. Snowbird migration has allowed plenty in terms of short-term lease options for studio and furnished apartments for rent. There are two potential hassles that come with this, however.
