The community of East Pasadena is a part of the oldest suburb in Los Angeles -- Pasadena. The area is also home to some of Pasadena's most historic business establishments, including The Pasadena Ice House, the oldest comedy club in the country. Now that's something to laugh about!
East Pasadena is a census-designated and unincorporated community located in the county of Los Angeles, CA, and is part of the greater suburb of Pasadena. At the time of the last major census, the total population was at about 6,100 people. East Pasadena is just several miles west of the city of Arcadia and roughly ten miles north of the city of Los Angeles. That means even if traffic is congested -- this is the greater Los Angeles basin, after all -- you can be in the heart of downtown LA in 30 minutes. There are several major mountain peaks only a few miles north of East Pasadena in the Angeles National Forest, including Mount Baldy and Mount San Antonio. So get ready for some views! See more
Finding an apartment in East Pasadena that accepts your pet may not be easy, but it’s very possible. Keep in mind, most of the time you’ll have to pay a premium for bringing your dog along in your new apartment. Some apartments require you to pay monthly pet rent, others will ask for a non-refundable pet fee or a refundable pet deposit.
While landlords and property management companies have varying pet policies, most of them limit the number of dogs you can bring to your apartment and include breed and weight restrictions.
If your pet falls under some of the restrictions outlined in the pet policy, it’s still worth asking the landlord if they can make an exception for your dog. Preparing a pet resume ahead of time could help you build the case for your furry friend. Make sure to include information on behavioral training your dog went through over the years and proof of vaccinations. If you can, include references from your former landlord and/or neighbors.
