The region enjoys warm, dry summers where the average high temperature rarely exceeds 72 degrees. The Kppen Climate Classification system describes the climate of Carpinteria as being warm-summer Mediterranean. Winter lows tend to be around 43 degrees. Carpinteria Beach offers strong surfing swells. From May through September, seals and sea lions frequent the nearby Carpinteria Buffs, where it's also possible to spot the occasional gray whale.

The local amenities are not exactly going to bowl you over, but there is a single restaurant within easy walking distance for folks who prefer the dining-out option.
8th Street: 8th Street in Carpinteria makes for a nicely tranquil setting. There's easy access to the beach and to the local shopping area. In all, there are two grocery stores, two gas stations, a bank, and some 20 restaurants situated very close by. Residents of 8th Street are spoiled for choice!
Gobernador Canyon Rd: Within a beautiful country setting and with views overlooking the mountains in the distance, Gobernador Canyon Road makes for a particularly peaceful and private residential area. Three minutes' drive and you can reach the freeway. Four minutes, and you're at the oceanfront. A car is a must however as there are no amenities in the immediate vicinity.
Casitas Pass Rd: Situated near the foothills of Carpinteria, bordered by the rugged Santa Ynez Mountains, and overlooking acre upon acre of avocado fields, Casitas Pass Road is undoubtedly an utterly idyllic scenario for a rental property! Again, the ownership of a car is without question a necessity as there are no local amenities within a country mile.

SR 150 runs from Santa Paula, through Carpinteria, and onwards to U.S. Route 101, which is near Ventura / Santa Barbara County line. The nearest train station to central Carpinteria is at 5th St & Linden Ave, just 0.3 miles from the city center. The closest regional airport is Santa Barbara Municipal Airport at Firestone Rd., some 18 miles away from the city's center. Los Angeles International Airport is located 85 miles from Carpinteria.
Keeping Busy
How do folks who reside in Carpinteria keep themselves busy? Well, one of the obvious choices for surfers is to make a beeline for Rincon Beach in order to catch some big wave action. Otherwise however, Carpinteria State Beach is a superb spot for sunbathing, camping, picnicking, and also for bird watching. The beach received a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence in 2013. It's also rated as one of the safest beaches in the country. Seaside Gardens offers a plethora of trees and shrubbery, including fruit trees, succulents, and shade lovers. The staff is thoroughly knowledgeable and for folks looking for ideas with respect to their own garden, you'll probably be fortunate to find some nuggets of gold here! Carpinteria Harbor Seal Reserve and Rookery at the Ballard exit is an excellent experience which should not be missed by those who enjoy witnessing wildlife, and in this case, specifically seals and sea lions. The best time to visit is May through September, but other visiting times will probably do you nicely too. All this talk about the outdoor life has probably invited an appetite. As such, it's time to talk food! Padaro Beach Grill Restaurant located on the interestingly named Santa Claus Lane offers American fare and seafood aplenty! Sizeable portions, friendly staff, and great prices - can't get much better than that! Corktree Cellars Wine Bar and Bistro Restaurant on Linden Ave serves up great wine together with great food. Island Brewing Co. on 6th Street is, as you'd perhaps imagine, a microbrewery offering a variety of award-winning ales to its' lucky patrons. There's no mass-produced stuff here - it's all delightfully handcrafted.
