Carpinteria
Moving to Carpinteria

How much will it cost?

The cost of living in Carpinteria is a little higher than that of the Californian average and is vastly greater in comparison to the national average. Oddly however, and the good news is, if you're a pizza lover, the cost of pizza is a sizable slice lower than the national average price of pizza.

When to Begin Looking

You should allow at least six weeks to relocate to a rental in Carpinteria. Although there are very few rental apartments available, the demand for rental housing is high, so come prepared to place a deposit on your dream place so as not to let it slip from your grasp.

What You Need

It's wise to have the typical renter's arsenal readily at your disposal when you're checking the area for places to live. Prospective tenants should be able to proffer references, proof of current employment and income, as well as the aforementioned deposit to be in the best position to seal the deal with landlords who can be very particular in this high-demand market.

Places to Live in Carpinteria

There's a goodly array of rentals available in Carpinteria, albeit, there are not so many apartments for rent. Thus, if you're in the market for a rental house, it's merely a matter of taking the time to search out the one that's the most appealing to you. Nevertheless, as mentioned, do not be tempted to sit back twiddling your thumbs when you do find a dwelling. Instead, place that deposit firmly on the table in order not to miss out on the jackpot accommodation!

Carpinteria Ave: Located close to beaches and the charming Carpinteria downtown area, Carpinteria Avenue makes for a sought-after part of the city for rental houses. Local amenities within easy walking distance are good too. There are seven restaurants, two gas stations, and a couple of grocery stores to boot!

Birch Street: Conveniently situated for commuting to Santa Barbara, Ojai, and Ventura, Birch Street is a desirable location for those who are looking for a home for rent. The local amenities are not exactly going to bowl you over, but there is a single restaurant within easy walking distance for folks who prefer the dining-out option.

8th Street: 8th Street in Carpinteria makes for a nicely tranquil setting. There's easy access to the beach and to the local shopping area. In all, there are two grocery stores, two gas stations, a bank, and some 20 restaurants situated very close by. Residents of 8th Street are spoiled for choice!

Gobernador Canyon Rd: Within a beautiful country setting and with views overlooking the mountains in the distance, Gobernador Canyon Road makes for a particularly peaceful and private residential area. Three minutes' drive and you can reach the freeway. Four minutes, and you're at the oceanfront. A car is a must however as there are no amenities in the immediate vicinity.

Casitas Pass Rd: Situated near the foothills of Carpinteria, bordered by the rugged Santa Ynez Mountains, and overlooking acre upon acre of avocado fields, Casitas Pass Road is undoubtedly an utterly idyllic scenario for a rental property! Again, the ownership of a car is without question a necessity as there are no local amenities within a country mile.

Keeping Busy

How do folks who reside in Carpinteria keep themselves busy? Well, one of the obvious choices for surfers is to make a beeline for Rincon Beach in order to catch some big wave action. Otherwise however, Carpinteria State Beach is a superb spot for sunbathing, camping, picnicking, and also for bird watching. The beach received a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence in 2013. It's also rated as one of the safest beaches in the country. Seaside Gardens offers a plethora of trees and shrubbery, including fruit trees, succulents, and shade lovers. The staff is thoroughly knowledgeable and for folks looking for ideas with respect to their own garden, you'll probably be fortunate to find some nuggets of gold here! Carpinteria Harbor Seal Reserve and Rookery at the Ballard exit is an excellent experience which should not be missed by those who enjoy witnessing wildlife, and in this case, specifically seals and sea lions. The best time to visit is May through September, but other visiting times will probably do you nicely too. All this talk about the outdoor life has probably invited an appetite. As such, it's time to talk food! Padaro Beach Grill Restaurant located on the interestingly named Santa Claus Lane offers American fare and seafood aplenty! Sizeable portions, friendly staff, and great prices - can't get much better than that! Corktree Cellars Wine Bar and Bistro Restaurant on Linden Ave serves up great wine together with great food. Island Brewing Co. on 6th Street is, as you'd perhaps imagine, a microbrewery offering a variety of award-winning ales to its' lucky patrons. There's no mass-produced stuff here - it's all delightfully handcrafted.
