Do you have a secret, or not so secret, love for kilts and haggis? The Texas Scottish Festival and Highland Games occurs annually in May in Tarrant County, where Kennedale is located, featuring everything from coats of arms to Scottish eggs.
Situated only about five clicks from Fort Worth and fifteen from Dallas is the pleasant and peaceful town of Kennedale, TX. Adored for its open lands, friendly folks and, most likely, its excellent beef, Kennedale is the kind of Dallas/Fort Worth suburb that just about any true blue (or aspiring) Texan can get behind. In addition to its amazing location close to two major cities, K-town also butts up against Lake Arlington, which is perfect for summer dips and has local parks like Treepoint and Sonora. The low cost of living and low crime rate are further advantages of parking it here long term, as are the mild winters. But no doubt it's the rough and rugged Texas spirit that draws most people here. Texas has a unique culture and proud inhabitants, and the frontier spirit lives on in Kennedale. Ultimately, whether you prefer outdoor adventures or fashionable nights on the town, Kennedale has everything you're looking for.
Moving to Kennedale
Getting ready for a move -- from city to city or across the nation -- requires organization, patience and plenty of research. To help speed your search for property rentals along, here are some handy tips to make moving to Kennedale as quick and easy as a wink.
Proof of Life
Start by grabbing together all the essential documents that prove who you are and what you do is legit. You'll need your ID, your credit report (go through this bad boy and ensure there aren't any suspicious charges on there) and some recent pay stubs that prove you can afford whatever budget you've set for yourself. Pretty easy, right? Now go grab a cashier's check while you're on a high of getting stuff done. You'll need it for your first month's rent and security deposit, guaranteed.
Scouting the Land
You may dream of owning a ranch with a dozen chickens and a milking cow or a hyper-modern high-rise apartment with a view of the ocean, but unless you know what accommodations are actually available where you're headed, you might be let down. Kennedale properties are diverse, but they're not hyper-modern high-rise diverse. There's still a lot of agriculture here, so ranches and house rentals are more likely. But chances are you'll find an abundance of single-family homes from between 1970 and 2000. As for apartments for rent, you'll find mostly studios, one-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom apartments in small complexes, but there are a few townhouses too.
Vacancy rates are low, offering slim pickings for newbies. But if you give yourself a couple months, you can find something pretty nice. Don't count on any all bills paid places though; it ain't that kinda town.
Neighborhoods of Kennedale
Unlike Dallas, New York City and San Francisco, Kennedale doesn't have any fancy "districts" that have independent cultures and identities. There are, however, differences between one area and another, at least to some degree. Understanding those differences will help you find your perfect spot.
North: With its easy access to I-20 and I-820, the northern half of the city is where commuters and movers and shakers like to settle. The houses are pretty tightly spaced in well-organized neighborhoods. Kennedale Parkway is the main thoroughfare, and in the top portion there are eateries and coffee shops and so on. Ray's Kennedale Pharmacy will make sure that you're always free of illness.
South: The south is a little quieter and a little more open. Sonora Park is on this side, along with access to HWY 287. The Tierra Verde Golf Club is close by, as is Timberview Golf Club.
Kennedale Lifestyle
Most folks here are pretty active, but they do most of their relaxing and entertaining in the cities, where there are museums, bars, fine restaurants and music venues. In town, you have a selection of local dining spots and community events, like neighborhood block parties and friendly picnics. With Dallas so close, it's nice to be able to escape and relax on a porch or at a local park with friends or family, enjoying the gorgeous surroundings. The workweek may go fast around here, but in Kennedale, life slows down on the weekends.
