Chickasha is located in the central portion of Oklahoma, about 41 miles from Oklahoma City. Norman, the second closest city that really isn’t the second closest but… whatever, is about 41 miles away.

Unfortunately, Chickasha isn’t known for its lively nightlife or great shopping. In fact, most area residents consider your new town, well, quite dull. But, like with any city, Chickasha is what you make of it!

When things do happen in Chickasha, they’re pretty cute. The city holds a festival of lights for the holiday season from Thanksgiving to New Year’s. The springtime brings the Spring Triad, which consists of a chalk art festival, music festival and Scholastic Meet. Late summer gets pretty bumping with the Muscle Car Ranch Swap Meet, which features a concert venue that’s included bands like Bad Company, the Byrds and Jefferson Airplane.

What nightlife and youth appeal that the city does have is centered on the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. This four-year public school educates about 1,200 Oklahoma kids annually.

The good news about Chickasha is that there’s an incredibly low cost of living and cheap apartments abound throughout many of the city’s safe and pleasant neighborhoods. Though most of the city’s real estate market is dominated by homeowners, with enough time you’ll be able to locate some great apartment rentals.

USAO is located just south of the city center. Because of the large student population this is a great place to start looking for rentals. This area will offer everything from studio apartments to two bedrooms, frequently with short term lease options. USAO’s campus and the surrounding neighborhood also have low crime rates, so this is overall a safe, desirable area. Two bedrooms near campus generally range from $400 to $600.

If you want to avoid the light hustle of the college scene, look slightly further southeast, where there are a couple of apartment rentals in newer developments that have great amenities, including gyms, pools and clubhouses. Two bedrooms in this area range from $450 to $600.

You’ll find great rental homes scattered throughout many of Chickasha’s great, more settled, family-friendly areas. Many of the city’s best, suburban and rural-feeling communities are located west and southwest of USAO. Two bedroom homes here frequently offer washer/dryer hook-ups and huge acreages of land. Rental homes in Chickasha can range from $600 to $1250.

If you’re relocating to Chickasha with a four-legged friend, I’ve got great news. Many of Chickasha’s apartments and rental homes are both cat and dog friendly. While some landlords may require an additional deposit, you shouldn’t have too much trouble securing a pet-friendly place for you and your furry family member.

Finding an apartment in Chickasha that accepts your pet may not be easy, but it’s very possible.
