Although originally named after the abolitionist Quaker family, the Kings, the family never knew they had a whole town named after them! The area was originally known as King's Cabin, with their domicile used as a landmark for those in the area. In 1894, the name was simply shortened to King, and although the family decided not to stay, the name stuck.
If you're looking for a family-oriented place to live, the City of King is it. It's one of the places where families come first and where the residents, approximately 7,000 strong, feel safe within its 5.8 square miles. That's because it is actually safe and was in fact voted among the 50 Safest Cities in North Carolina by SafeWise, an expert in the security industry. In fact, King placed 33 on the list, an accolade that speaks volumes for the quality of this community. The community of King has cemented its roots and is a thriving community in Stokes County, with some sections of the town located in Forsyth. Scoring an apartment with hardwood floors can be a big win for King renters. They`re typically a beautiful addition to your space. They’re also easier to clean and sweep, particularly if you have pets.
However, there are some downsides. Hardwood floors carry sounds. They can also make your apartment noisy for your roommates and downstairs neighbors.
Ask the landlord or property manager about the hardwood floors before signing a lease. Are they actually hardwood or a popular composite alternative? The latter is probably easier to clean and care for than the real thing.
