National study of renter’s satisfaction with their cities and states
Apartment List has released results for Everett from the second annual Apartment List Renter Satisfaction Survey. The survey, which drew on responses from over 30,000 renters, provides insight into what states and cities must do to meet the needs of the 105 million American renters nationwide.
“Everett renters expressed very low satisfaction with their city,” says Andrew Woo, Director of Data Science at Apartment List. “They rated most categories with below-average scores.”
Key findings in Everett include the following:
Aerospace workers favor Holly neighborhood for its proximity to Boeing's massive assembly facility, where many residents walk to shifts. The area features practical mid-century homes on larger lots than newer developments, with mountain views from east-facing windows. Though limited retail means driving for groceries, the trade-off comes in quieter streets and more affordable housing than Seattle. Outdoor enthusiasts appreciate quick access to Cascade mountain trails and Puget Sound beaches within 30-minute drives.

Historic waterfront character distinguishes Port Gardner, where this central Everett neighborhood combines Victorian architecture with Puget Sound views. Rental options include apartments in divided grand homes and smaller buildings from the early 20th century. The neighborhood provides walking access to both downtown amenities and the developing waterfront district with its marina and restaurants, though ferry and naval station activity creates occasional noise considerations for properties nearest the water.
