Santaquin was originally going to be named Guffich after the Indian Chief who warned Benjamin F. Johnson about a raid that was about to happen by Indians. The chief declined and asked that they name the town be named after his son, Santaquin.
Santaquin is found in the picturesque Utah County, approximately 70 miles to the south of the capital of Utah. It's found in a beautiful site with a complete view of Timpanogos and Utah Lake to its north. It was originally named Summit City, but the name was changed due to help from Chief Guffich.
