National study of renter’s satisfaction with their cities and states
Apartment List has released Tallahassee’s results from the third annual Apartment List Renter Satisfaction Survey. This survey, which drew on responses from over 45,000 renters, provides insight on what states and cities must do to meet the needs of 111 million American renters nationwide.
"Tallahassee renters expressed general dissatisfaction with the city overall," according to Apartment List. "Interestingly, ratings for Tallahassee vary widely across categories such as weather and pet-friendliness."

Established elegance defines Killearn Estates, where traditional homes surround lakes and the former golf course creating generous green spaces. Residents enjoy the extensive walking trails connecting neighborhoods and the community lakes perfect for morning kayaking. Though summer thunderstorms can be intense, the neighborhood's mature tree canopy provides cooling shade during North Florida's hot summers. Cultural heritage thrives in Frenchtown Historic District, where Tallahassee's historically Black neighborhood maintains authentic character through local businesses and community institutions. Rental options include traditional homes and smaller apartment buildings at more accessible rates than campus-adjacent areas. While the neighborhood offers excellent access to both Florida A&M University and downtown employment, some blocks remain in various stages of revitalization requiring local knowledge.
