"Central City Louisiana / Ive got a long way to go / and I aint gonna be movin slow / Im gonna fly right through the breeze / like I got a new pair of wings." (-- Taylor Hollingsworth, "Central City")

Located deep in the heart of New Orleans, Central is a bustling town filled with character, history and fascinating individuals intent on distinctive lives.

The Deets

Good news, vacancy rates are sky-high! In some places they're over 30 percent, meaning you can just drift over on a whim and pick out a nice, sweet historic home rental, or a studio apartment in a historic building. The architecture here is worth the move alone. Oh, and cost of living is low too, well below the national average, and many people walk to shops, convenience stores and friends houses. Its a super welcoming community that takes care of its own.

The Hoods

There are oodles upon scads upon gobs of neighborhoods in New Orleans, and Central City boasts some pretty attractive friends. They may be small in size, but they can offer a major difference in population, rents and experience. Here are some of the popular options.

Central Business District (CBD): The heart of the city, where all the magic happens. Here youll find Bourbon Street, the major parades and all the best stuff within walking distance. Its mostly renters.

Garden District: Technically two areas, the Garden District and the Lower Garden District. A neighborhood featuring a walkable area with lots of one bedroom and two bedroom apartments.

Milan: This is a renters paradise. There are lots of small rental units, as opposed to huge high-rise buildings.

Broadmoor: Has more sizable rental properties with two bedroom apartments being standard.

Everyone knows that Central, and New Orleans as a whole, has many appealing attributes. But its undeniably an exciting city, and Central especially so. Its even warmer, more welcoming and friendlier. Plus, its easy to move in immediately, like so many others have. Its growing every day, and you can help make it the best future city in America just by showing up.
