City Guide for Keizer, OR

Keizer might be the only town with a "misspelled" name. Citizens decided to honor one of the area's first settlers, Thomas Dove Keizur, by using his moniker for the name of the young town, but wouldn't you know it, they got his name wrong.

Located in Oregon's lush Willamette Valley, Keizer is part of the Salem metropolitan area. The folks of Salem once had thoughts of annexing the area, but those clever Keizerites beat them to the punch by filing for incorporation in 1964. The city boasts a temperate climate that keeps everyone comfortable for most of year. Heavy snowfalls are rare, although the area does receive more rainfall than the U.S average. Hey, it's Oregon, that can't come as a big shock, right? The city plays host to a wide range of cultural and sporting events, along with being the home town of drummer, Dean Castronovo, who has played with Ozzy Osbourne. So clearly, if you are looking for the perfect place to settle down, Keizer has everything you could possibly want. See more

What to keep in mind when looking for dog friendly apartments in Keizer, OR

Finding an apartment in Keizer that accepts your pet may not be easy, but it’s very possible. Keep in mind, most of the time you’ll have to pay a premium for bringing your dog along in your new apartment. Some apartments require you to pay monthly pet rent, others will ask for a non-refundable pet fee or a refundable pet deposit.

While landlords and property management companies have varying pet policies, most of them limit the number of dogs you can bring to your apartment and include breed and weight restrictions.

If your pet falls under some of the restrictions outlined in the pet policy, it’s still worth asking the landlord if they can make an exception for your dog. Preparing a pet resume ahead of time could help you build the case for your furry friend. Make sure to include information on behavioral training your dog went through over the years and proof of vaccinations. If you can, include references from your former landlord and/or neighbors.
