City Guide for James City, NC

Renamed in honor of Reverend Horace James, an Army chaplain who headed the Trent River Settlement in the 1860s, James City was the largest refuge in North Carolina for black men and women during the Civil War period.

James City is a census-designated place (CDP) as opposed to being recognized as an official city or town. Located in Craven County, the town boasted a population of 5,899 in the 2010 U.S. Census. It is located on the North Carolina coast, approximately halfway between Wilmington and Elizabeth City. Despite its name, James City is essentially a neighborhood of New Bern, to the point that many of the businesses within town use New Bern descriptors in their names, even when located in James City. The thin strip of land that makes up James City incorporates the Coastal Carolina Regional Airport to the north and is between Highway 70 to the west and the Neuse River to the east. See more

What to keep in mind when looking for apartments with washer-dryers in James City, NC

Finding apartments with a washer and dryer in James City offers more freedom and flexibility to your weekends. Throwing in the laundry before work or a Saturday afternoon bike ride and finishing it up later is inconvenient, if not impossible, without your own set-up.

There are a few things to keep in mind while looking for apartments with a washer and dryer in James City. Ask how old the appliances are before you sign. A washer and dryer over 10-years-old may need to be serviced regularly or have an expired warranty. You should also ask the property management who services the washer and dryer. Some leases stipulate that the landlord will pay for repairs to an essential appliance like oven or refrigerator, but require the tenant to service the washer and dryer.

Finding apartments with a washer and dryer in James City can go quickly, so come prepared with your bank statements, pay stubs, identification, and letters of recommendation to sign your new lease.
