Glencoe, IL: Home of Tom Cruise's Risky Business and where Ferris Bueller took his infamous day off.
Situated on the Chicago's posh North Shore, Glencoe is a beautiful suburban village that over 8,700 Chicagoans call home. Residents enjoy dramatic sweeping views of Lake Michigan's west side and easy access to the industries and companies in the Deerfield/Northbrook area and Chicago city limits. The site of several structures built by Frank Lloyd Wright, as well as other houses of significant historical value, Glencoe is renowned for stunning architecture of its homes and high quality of living. A plethora of parks, beaches, and an attractive business district make residing in Glencoe a truly luxurious living experience.
Glencoe shares a southern border with the Village of Winnetka and a northern border with Highland Park. The east and west of the village are bordered by Lake Michigan and the Cook County Forest Preserve, respectively. The village is bisected by Green Bay Road, with high-end shorefront properties to the west and majestic homes amongst private, wooded properties to the east. Various private facilities such as the Lake Shore Country Club, Glencoe Golf Club, and Skokie Country Club geographically delineate Glencoe from neighboring northern suburbs. House rental properties can be found within this vicinity, though there may be more of an abundance of houses for rent along the North Shore waterfront, as vacation rentals tend to be more numerous in this area.
Rental properties in Glencoe are primarily large single-family homes: think big lawns and grand architectural gems consisting of classic Tudors and regal Victorians. Though finding a house rental may be possible, apartment or condo renters may be out of luck in Glencoe proper. That being said, neighboring Glenview and Highland Park are in close proximity, and may prove more fruitful for those seeking an apartment or condo for rent.
For housing rentals or duplexes for rent in Glencoe, potential renters are well advised to start searching well in advance of their desired move date. Due to the attractiveness of the village and its proximity to Chicago, rental properties are in high demand and tend to get snatched up quickly by executives and business people relocating to the area for short- or medium-term engagements.
As Glencoe is a small community of residential single-family homes, no distinct neighborhoods exist within village limits. Various apartment communities can be found in the area, though.
