Moody was named in honor of Epps Moody, a pioneer who moved his family to the area from North Carolina in the 1820s.
Moody is a small, fast-growing city 15 miles east of Birmingham. The 2010 US Census has the population at over 11,700 residents, and folks from all across the country are moving here daily. Moody's biggest draw for potential residents is its ongoing commercial expansion, which has a ripple effect, of sorts: It creates new jobs, which draws new residents and creates a bigger residential pool.
