While Troy is loved for its plethora of cheap apartments, there are a few newer/restored buildings with work/live options where rent can set you back. If "budget" isn’t a term you use and luxury living is your middle name, a place like The Conservatory, where you can rent a 1 BR with a garage, upgraded EVERYTHING for $1400 a month, is for you.

Because the city is home to the collegiate kind, there is always an apartment special in town and finding a cheap yet cozy apartment is easy. Deposits start around $200 but can be as much as one month’s rent or they may be waived altogether in the name of a move-in special. Cable and/or internet are standard features included in most Troy apartment rentals and typical perks include fitness centers, walking trails and 24-hour maintenance. One thing you will find here, as with much of New York, is that many of the apartment buildings in Troy are smoke-free. If you want to light up, you have to go outside. As for pets, cats and dogs are welcome in many rentals with a deposit, though for some reason cats tend to get more love here in Troy.
