City Guide
Mounds View
Finding a Home in Mounds View

The world of housing is at your wand's beck and call in Mounds View. You just have to give the real estate genie your wish. Two-bedroom apartments? Here you are. Five-bedroom villas? Coming right up. Mobile homes? As you please.

Types of Housing for Rent

A rental rate of nearly 40% means you'll find that places to rent in Mounds View abound. Generally speaking, every kind of housing is available here, but you'll have the most luck finding detached houses and rentals within apartment complexes, as these account for over 75% of the units here. Whether you want a three-bedroom house or studio for rent, your wishes can be fulfilled.

Things to Consider

A vacancy rate of 7% means it may be a bit more difficult to find a place here than other cities, despite the abundance of housing types. To be certain your magic rental wand works, you should try and give yourself three weeks or more to find a place. Moreover, looking at opportune times like November and early December ensures you have the chance to snag a place just as the previous tenant is moving out (most leases begin and end in January).

If you rent an apartment, you may find that only some utilities are included in the rental cost, so it's always a good idea to be clear on what is and what is not included when viewing a house. If you have magic bargaining skills, you may be able to get an all-bills-paid pad that can save you some cash.

Things to Prepare

Gather the dough for the first month's rent and security deposit as well as applicable realtor and application fees. Landlords in Mounds View will occasionally do a credit check, so be ready to show you are capable of paying the monthly rent on time.

Mounds View Neighborhoods

Mounds View is quite scenic in some spots, and it's quite convenient in others. Choosing where you live in this town of just over 4.1 square miles requires more calculation than a magic trick.

City Center: This neighborhood is full of houses and city apartments right in the middle of all the businesses and restaurants near U.S. Route 10. Rice Creek and City Hall Park offer ample outdoor fun, with the Mermaid Lounge nearby to relax in after a long day of exploring.

Silver Lake Road/ County Road H2: The beauty of Wood Lake and Silver View Park highlight this neighborhood of mostly residential houses. A must-see for any fan of architecture and nature!

85th Avenue Northeast/ Red Oak Drive: This area is mostly houses and is headlined by Groveland Park and Ardan Park. It's also near a lot of bus stops on Ardan Avenue, so if you like to go green this may be the neighborhood for you.

Long Lake Road/ Sherwood Road: Right near Route 10 and Greenfield Park, this neighborhood is also a stone's throw away from the center of town. Talk about a prime location!

Living in Mounds View

While it may be the land of mermaids, swimming isn't the main mode of transportationcars are. However, in a town like Mounds View, there are a lot of options. Some folks like to use the bus system and others enjoy walking, biking, or running if the destination isn't too far. While there's only one mermaid in town (and rumor has it she isn't exactly real), you can go searching for real ones at happening spots in town like Moe's Restaurant, Twin Cities Scout Shop and Zero Gravity Trampoline Park. If you can't find a mermaid, entertain yourself with a flick at Carmike Cinemas Wynnsong 15 Movie Theater for a true escape. In Mounds View, you can be as active or relaxed as you please. Whether you're interested in an all day adventure or a relaxing time in nature, Mounds View has exactly what you're looking for.
