Yes, this place really is called "Dundee"--and that's the first thing that attracts people to the area. The city--or "village"--of West Dundee is a really small area with few new developments. Most of the town has a nostalgic feel and a lot of the buildings have retained their original 1800s-style architecture. West Dundee is situated in Dundee Township, which it shares reluctantly with East Dundee, and both villages are separated by Fox River. This village was founded back in 1834 by a gentleman called Jesse H, Newman. Around this time the area was known for brick manufacturing, but soon became the Dairy production center of the area in the 1870s.

West Dundee isn't teeming with neighborhoods, so really the town is your oyster! Get out and look around, you never know, you might find your dream home here!
Things to Do Around West Dundee
Off of I-90 this place looks like anything but a small village--it's packed with stores and places of interest.
Shop All Day
One of the biggest pastimes here is shopping among the wide variety of stores in town. If you're into fashion, stop at the Spring Hill Fashion Shopping Center or the Huntley Square Shopping Center. These commercial centers are often packed on the weekends, since the unlucky neighbors to the east, north and south lack good shopping areas.
Enjoy the Great Outdoors
Spring and summer weather in Dundee is quite nice, so lots of people head out to Fox River for picnics, barbecues, fishing, and jogging. For outdoor enthusiasts that don't prefer water sports, stop by Huffman Park, Jelke Creek Bird Sanctuary, or the Dundee Township Park District.

Some of the best things about West Dundee are its resorts and hotels. Many people stop through here while traveling I-90, but residents also frequent these hotels just to get away from home.
