Methodology

Census data from 2022 were used to identify ten cities that offer strong economic opportunities to veterans. Cities were evaluated on four factors: the share of the civilian population who are military veterans, the median personal income among veterans, as well as poverty and unemployment rates among veterans. The ten cities listed below are those that ranked highest on a composite score of these factors.

For each city we present the starting 2-bedroom rent, which is sourced from Apartment List Rent Estimates, and median veteran income, which is sourced from the US Census Bureau American Community Survey, Table B21004 (2022 1-yr Estimates).
