Painesville is located about 30 miles from Cleveland and a little over five miles from Mentor. Despite this proximity, Painesville has its own quiet, friendly vibe and small town charm. Additionally, living in this area will put you right on the shores of Lake Erie and close to Headlands Beach State Park.
Still, if you’re afraid at all of being totally submerged during heavy rainfall, you’re going to need to look elsewhere. To the far west of the city center, near the Diamond Centre shopping, you’ll find a couple of new apartments for rent that offer everything from studios to two bedroom units. These complexes frequently offer amenities such as a clubhouse, gym, and swimming pool. Living in this neighborhood will put you in the closest proximity to both Mentor and Cleveland. Two bedrooms here generally range from $950 to $1,200.
Just south of downtown, adjacent to Lake Erie College, you’ll find a small quiet community with a few rental options available, including apartments and rental homes. As you get closer to campus you may also be able to locate rentals that offer short-term lease deals. Two bedrooms here range from $1,000 to $1,200.
East of downtown you’ll find a smattering of small apartments and rental homes in quieter neighborhoods. While these rentals may not have the most in terms of amenities, they are quite safe and generally desirable. Two bedrooms here range from $900 to $1,100.
If you’re relocating to Painesville with a four-legged pet, don’t worry! Painesville’s rental market is both cat and dog friendly. Come with some extra cash, though, because securing a pet friendly rental usually means forking over a bit extra in your deposit.
