Neighborhoods of Ocean Pointe

This pretty housing development has an area of just over two square miles. It's located just north of the beautiful Pacific Ocean, inland from Ewa Beach on the west side of the main road through this community, Hawaii Route 76, or Fort Weaver Road. Fort Weaver Road connects to Farrington Highway which will lead you all the way up the coast to the pristine state park at Yokohama Bay, or to Interstate H-1 and your commute to downtown Honolulu.In the late part of the 19th century, Ewa was the location of major sugar cane production. The Ewa Mill set up residences for workers, but now the mill and the plains full of cane are gone. Instead, its a suburban commuter paradise, ocean close, with a bustling downtown in Kapolei's city center just a few minutes away.A developer bought 1,100 acres of land and sold the first homes in the area in 1988. Ocean Pointe itself was completed in 2008. There are just over 2,500 homes here, and a golf course located at the adjacent Hoakalei Resort. The community also has its own fire station. Not far from the lush lagoons of the Ko Olina and the Aulani Resorts, a lagoon for the community is planned along with another hotel and resort complex in Ocean Pointe itself. Recreation? Check out the nightlife at those nearby resorts for dining, music, and drinks. Shopping? There's plenty nearby, as the Laulani Village Shopping Center includes a chain of Oahu hardware stores, City Mill, Petco, and Walgreens as well as Safeway. You won't have to go fishing to catch dinner in this tropical territory. Commute time can be long, over thirty minutes daily each way. Although public transportation offers commuting options to travelers weary of the H-1.
