McMinnville's Cumberland Caves are among the largest show caves within the country. They were first discovered in 1810 by Aaron Higginbotham. Legend has it that Higginbotham became trapped on a ledge within the caves. He was successfully rescued, but not before his hair had turned white, which presumably occurred through distress.
