Moving to Rocky River
You will do yourself a favor if you collect some pay stubs and your bank account information, and take a look at your credit report before starting your housing search. This is a suburb of a major city, and great rental properties, though sometimes plentiful, tend to be snapped up fast. Get your ducks in a row in advance, and then consider enlisting the services of an apartments locator if you're new to the area.
Popular Neighborhoods
Lake Road / Wagar Road: You may find some home rentals in the area, but this neighborhood consists primarily of relatively historic homes, many of them built before 1939. The area is home to urban sophisticates who enjoy culture and the arts, including theater outings, art galleries and neighborhood boutiques.
Center Ridge Road / Spencer Road: This is a good bet for you if you're hoping to find one-bedroom apartments in high-rise buildings, rental homes or condo rentals. This is a well-established neighborhood, with homes and apartments built since 1940. The neighborhood is quiet and pretty with tall trees providing shade from the warm Midwestern summer sun. Average commuting time to work is 15 to 30 minutes, and although carpools are popular, you'll find owning a car offers a great advantage.
Center Ridge Road / Wooster Road: You may find your dream apartment in the vicinity of this neighborhood. The river meanders along the east side, and the homes and apartment buildings seem to blend in with the natural surroundings. Look for studios here with all bills paid. You can walk or jog around the neighborhood with ease, and because it's a bit closer to Cleveland than other neighborhoods, you might be able to get to the city faster -- if you want to.
City Center: This great neighborhood, located north of Interstate 90 and south of Lake Erie, has some condo rentals, but you'll have to act quickly when one becomes available. Rocky River Park is adjacent to the lake, and the river runs along the eastern edge of the neighborhood. Mitchell's Ice Cream is also located in this area!
It's Easy to Keep Busy
There are four seasons to celebrate here. Summers tend to be hot and humid, but you can easily escape to the lake or the river. Winters may seem long, but when spring arrives you'll be out enjoying the flora just like everyone else in town. Usually, the fall is gorgeous!
