Prices and are now up 3.8% year-over-year. The median rent in Daly City rose by 0.2% over the course of September, and has now increased by a total of 3.8% over the past 12 months. Daly City’s rent growth over the past year has has outpaced both state (1.3%) and national (-0.8%) averages.
Nine months into the year, rents in Daly City have risen 7.1%. This is a faster rate of growth compared to what the city was experiencing at this point last year: from January to September 2024 rents had decreased 0.8%.
If we expand our view to the wider San Francisco metro area, the median rent is $2,687 meaning that the median price in Daly City ($2,909) is 8.3% greater than the price across the metro as a whole. Metro-wide annual rent growth stands at 4.9%, above the rate of rent growth within just the city.

Apartment List has released results for Daly City from the second annual Apartment List Renter Satisfaction Survey. The survey, which drew on responses from over 30,000 renters, provides insight into what states and cities must do to meet the needs of the 105 million American renters nationwide.
“According to our results, renters in Daly City are very satisfied with their city,” says Andrew Woo, Director of Data Science at Apartment List. “They gave most categories above-average scores.”
