City Guide
Glen Avon
Moving to Glen Avon

If you're looking for places to rent in Glen Avon, the good news is that there are always plenty of property rentals, whether you're looking for apartment complexes or a house to rent. You may not find the hi rise apartments of Los Angeles, but you'll find attractive, beautifully landscaped, modern buildings with all the amenities. If you're not sure of your future plans, however, it's probably better to rent a place when you first get there rather than to purchase a home. Thanks to the huge numbers of rentals in most California cities, this is what a lot of newcomers do. Once you've decided that you're going to stay, and you've chosen your favorite area to live, then you can think about that down payment for your dream home or condo.

When you first get to Glen Avon, however, one of the best things you can do is drive around town and familiarize yourself with the streets, choosing those areas where you think you'd be most comfortable.

Neighborhoods in Glen Avon

Glen Avon doesn't really have specific neighborhoods of its own, but it does have certain streets that are primarily commercial or residential. Here are some of the most popular residential areas around town:

** Jurupa Road:** In the area around Jurupa Road, you'll find a number of large, elegant homes in both ranch and multi-level styles.

Mission Road: This area features homes and apartments at a wide variety of price points.

Felspar Street: This is a heavily residential area, with houses, condos and apartments.

Knowles Park: In addition to a number of beautiful homes, this area features Knowles Field, a great place for taking a walk or watching a neighborhood ball game.

Living Like a Local in Glen Avon

It's no secret that many folks here tend to have cars of their own. If you'd rather use public transportation, you're in luck because Jurupa Valley is serviced by Metrolink Trains out of Pedley Station. In addition, the Riverside Transit Agency offers bus service throughout the region.

Just because you're in California, don't think for a minute that wild life isn't teeming just outside your front door, and we don't mean some of the characters in Los Angeles. Just minutes away, there's the amazing Jurupa Mountains Discovery Center, where you can enjoy lush nature trails and guided walks while exploring the natural habitat of the area's four-footed inhabitants.

After all that beauty, you're probably going to be hungry, so if you want to live like a true local, you'll want to familiarize yourself with the best nearby restaurants. A favorite for decades, Zorba's Burgers has flame-grilled burgers, awe-inspiring, deli-worthy pastrami sandwiches and the best fried mushrooms in town. If you're in the mood for steak, check out the wonderfully named Tony's Spunky Steer, which specializes in the basics: steaks, baked potatoes and fresh salads, all dished out in huge portions.

All in all, Glen Avon is a great place because it gives you the opportunity to live in the suburbs, yet allows you to take full advantage of big-city amenities.
