Fitchburg Neighborhoods

Mckees Farm Park: The streets around Mckees Farm Park are always alive with activity no matter what; there are pick-up soccer games for the bigger kids, a playground for the little ones, and bike trails for the ambitious.$

Caddis Bend: The Caddis Bend area is charming and quiet, but a little pricey. There are several 1-bedroom apartments available in this area.$$$

Fish Hatchery Road: Although there is no main city center, the best place to catch a bus is around the Fish Hatchery Road for those of you who prefer to keep Wisconsin green.$$

Moving to Fitchburg will not be a difficult task: the city invites newcomers! The city of Fitchburg is about as welcoming and pleasant as any you will find in the entire state. The area is moderately populated, with about 26,000 people already enjoying their surroundings, and there is a wide variety of shops to fulfill all needs from groceries to returning a rental truck. School districts are always a consideration when making a move, and Fitchburg has three to choose from: Madison to the north, Oregon to the east and south, and Verona to the west.

Fitchburg is still growing and developing, so the mass transit is not as readily available as it is in urban Madison. The majority of commuters will hop in their cars to take them most places they need to go. There is a large biking population building in Fitchburg after the introduction of the Capitol Trail. Biking the trails is a popular pastime for a lot of Fitchburgians as well as a popular means of transportation. In their spare time, residents of the city can head over to the orchard and pick their own fruit -- from apples to raspberries -- or visit the citys growing shopping centers. Thursday evenings, rain or shine, a Farmers Market is held to share Wisconsins bounty with her denizens. A Wisconsinite can find everything from hand-dyed yarn and custom-scented soaps to freshly butchered meat at the event, as well as some yearly festivals for added fun. Or visit Mckee Farms Park for a small child-centered water park to cool off a sun-baked family in the summer months.

Fitchburg offers the best of Madison without having to deal with rowdy college kids. Although its quiet family-centered atmosphere is not for everyone, Fitchburg is the heart of Wisconsin for the ones who call it home.
