Living in Miller Place

Miller Place is a nice, secluded spot on Long Island, but it's also got that commuter feel to it, with a lot of the locals driving off west for work via Route 25A. In town, there are a couple of pretty parks, several historic buildings, and a beach that runs along the northern border on the coast. The entire area is hilly, which makes for some nice walks with good views of the region, and there are a few annual events that the locals come together for, the best of these being the Miller Place-Mount Sinai County Fair.

One thing that the town is known for, and very proud of, is its sporting record, held by the Miller Place High School badminton team. For 32 years this team was unbeaten, winning 504 consecutive matches between 1973 and 2005. That is, in fact, the longest unbeaten run in team-sports history, and the people of Miller Place -- and the kids who enjoy their sports at the various schools in the area -- continue to live up to that tradition to this day.
