Ogden most likely got its name during the Revolutionary War from resident Solomon Ogden of Onslow County.
What it lacks in local businesses within the town's limits, it makes up for in its prime location just minutes from Wrightsville Beach, Figure Eight Island, and the Cape Fear River within Wilmington. Ogden is both a census-designated place and a suburb of Wilmington, with a population of 6,766, according to the 2010 Census. But probably the most important detail to know is that the whole place is minutes from the beach, so you can't get better than this location. And if it's city living you crave, Wilmington is just next door.
Moving to Ogden
The fairly low vacancy rate suggests that you're not the only person interested in finding an apartment in Ogden. Imagine that! But at the same time, the rate is only a bit below the average, so you should still be able to find a 1 bedroom apartment for rent or at least a studio apartment with just enough room for your stuff.
The Price of Housing in Ogden
The cost of buying a home here is almost double the state's average, but it's only a little over the national average. However, the rental prices here are much cheaper than the average for the country, especially considering how close you'll be to the beach. At this rate, you can afford to check out those hi rise apartments you've had your eye on for a while now!
Some Facts on the Homes You'll Find Here
Most of the rental homes in Ogden are pretty large, with more than three-fourths boasting 3 or 4 bedrooms. So maybe get a roommate or a pet if you currently live alone, or just buy more furniture to fill the void in your huge home. If you're looking for a newer home here, you should have an easy time of finding one. About one-third of the housing was built after 2000.
One thing to note is that it will be much easier to find a single-family house here than an apartment or townhome, but if you really don't want a yard to keep up with, don't lose hope. There's at least one apartment complex to check out, as well as some townhomes and even mobile homes. Just be prepared to quickly show proof of income and put down a deposit when you find what you're looking for, since nice homes for rent don't tend to last long in this popular place.
