Terrytown, Louisiana got its name from developer Paul Kapelow. He founded the region in 1960 and named it after his daughter, Terry.
Terrytown's name is a little misleading, since it's not really a town. This subdivision is what people in suits like to call a census designated place. It has a concentration of residents, which is sometimes considered a suburb, or sometimes listed as a neighborhood of Gretna.
