The town's founder, Ira Allen, led a group of Mormon pioneers to Camp Hollow and built Fort Hyrum, which originally housed 120 people. The town is named after the brother of the founder of the Mormon Church. Today, outdoor recreation is a way of life in Hyrum. Residents spend their time at the nearby Hyrum State Park, the Hyrum Reservoir, and the Hardware Ranch, which is part of a wildlife management area that herds of elk spend their winter months in. You'll get to enjoy all four seasons in Hyrum, which is known for its hot, humid summers and downright cold winters.

Little Bear Creek: This neighborhood is made up of about 93 households made up mostly of single family homes with three to six bedrooms each.
Rolling Hills: The Rolling Hills neighborhood is a large Hyrum neighborhood, comprised of about 270 households. This charming and spacious neighborhood is located less than a mile from two elementary schools and is just a short drive from the middle schools. You can easily access Pride Park, a hometown grocery store, and the state park from Rolling Hills.
Continental Park: This is another of Hyrum's larger neighborhoods, made up of about 178 households. Located off of 300 South and 675 East in Hyrum, this is another neighborhood dominated by single family homes. All of these homes are relatively new. The neighborhood started being built in 1997 and wrapped up with construction in 2007.
One of the highlights of living in Hyrum is attending the annual 4th of July festivities, known as the Star Spangled Celebration. To get active on the 4th, you can take part in the 9.3 mile Blacksmith Fork Freedom Run, which has a range of age groups. Best of all (aside from the exercise, of course), race winners receive cash prizes! A significant part of life in Hyrum revolves around Hyrum State Park, which is a popular destination for fishing, water skiing, boating, picnicking, and camping. Fishermen will enjoy catching an ample supply of yellow perch, rainbow trout, bluegill, and largemouth bass.
You can easily learn more about this town's rich history and traditions by visiting the Hyrum Public Library or the Hyrum City Museum, which offer frequent and free educational activities to the public.
Hyrum is an excellent place to call home if you're looking for a serene town surrounded by beautiful parks, in contrast to the congestion of big-city living. Although there are some jobs in Hyrum, about half the population has about a 20 minute commute to work. For recreation and work purposes, it's essential to have access to a car when you move to Hyrum.
