City Guide for Lower Allen, PA

Lower Allen is a census-designated place (CDP) in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, and was created when the city got its name as the result of a church split. During the midst of the fracas, one of the factions of the church started meeting outdoors on a hill. On a more positive note, the region is home to the Mid-Atlantic-based drug store company Rite Aid.

As Lower Allen is a CDP, it's fair to classify it as being more of a neighborhood, at about 2.4 square miles. West of Harrisburg, the area can be reached by taking I-581 Southbound from I-83. Exiting on to I-15 and taking it Eastbound, you'll run straight into the heart of Lower Allen. In terms of population, the area is relatively small at 6,694; but there is more than enough housing to find an apartment to rent in Lower Allen. See more

What to keep in mind when looking for dog friendly apartments in Lower Allen, PA

Finding an apartment in Lower Allen that accepts your pet may not be easy, but it’s very possible. Keep in mind, most of the time you’ll have to pay a premium for bringing your dog along in your new apartment. Some apartments require you to pay monthly pet rent, others will ask for a non-refundable pet fee or a refundable pet deposit.

While landlords and property management companies have varying pet policies, most of them limit the number of dogs you can bring to your apartment and include breed and weight restrictions.

If your pet falls under some of the restrictions outlined in the pet policy, it’s still worth asking the landlord if they can make an exception for your dog. Preparing a pet resume ahead of time could help you build the case for your furry friend. Make sure to include information on behavioral training your dog went through over the years and proof of vaccinations. If you can, include references from your former landlord and/or neighbors.
