Rittman is a one-of-a-kind city with a one-of-a-kind name. It is named for Fred Rittman, who was the treasurer of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in the late 1800s when Rittman was first established.

The Rittman Historical Society ensures that people in Rittman have the opportunity to celebrate their shared heritage. It restores old buildings and keeps records of the way life was in the early 1800s for the first settlers. There is also an old cemetery where people can experience physical markers of history by visiting the graves of the first families to settle this area of Ohio.
