City Guide
Ladue
Moving To Ladue

Ladue housing offers many different architectural styles, including colonial-style brick homes, unique mansions and well preserved ranch-style homes. However, newer builds can also be found that range from simple apartment buildings to extravagant new houses, helping create a lot of variety in a small place. Numerous quiet cul-de-sacs, known for their beautiful mature trees and "slice of Americana" appearance, are a common sight in Ladue. However, before you begin your search for apartments in Ladue, a few tips can help save you time and stress with your move.

Making Your Move Easier

You can probably cut your search time down if you use a qualified and dependable broker, but don't be afraid to search on the web as well. Overall, most residences in Ladue are medium to large-sized homes or apartments that contain anywhere from two to five bedrooms. Moving there is simple enough. Most streets are wide enough to fit a large moving truck with no problem. If you're moving to an especially large residence, you might want to think about hiring some professional movers -- your lower back will thank you later.

Ladue Is The Place To Be

One should be aware that Ladue properties often rank among the most expensive in America. Even the Busch family, famous for owning the Anheuser-Busch brewing company, have a very large property in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean you'll get a lifetime supply of free beer just for moving to the area, despite any rumors you might hear. Regardless of Ladue's pricey reputation, that fact shouldn't discourage potential apartment seekers. There are a number of apartments available that are reasonably priced. These apartments often come with private garages and private pools as well. There are also some cheaper single-family homes and townhouses for rent mixed in on the edges of the Ladue neighborhood. Although you can sometimes find apartments with paid utilities, it is usually not the norm.

Signing Your Contract

Once you've picked a place you'd like to live, you're going to have to submit a few documents to your broker or landlord before everything is finalized. You'll likely have to provide copy of your ID, pay stubs, references from previous apartment owners, and possibly employer references as well. You will also have to put down a security deposit, but it's usually less than the cost of one month of rent. While you're going through all that, just remember that at least you're not at the dentist's office getting a root canal. It might make you feel a little better.

Ladue Neighborhoods

Ladue doesn't have any designated neighborhoods within the town. Instead, the town belongs to the suburbs of St. Louis, which encompasses a diverse range of towns and public spaces. That being said, each part of Ladue has the feeling of being its own neighborhood, with people who know each other and unique houses everywhere you turn. Ladue also has a number of restaurants, shopping opportunities, and spas, especially in the Clayton Road area.

Ladue also hosts a number of parks that allow you to enjoy some jogging or just a simple picnic with family or friends. Schools are not an issue either. Ladue has a number of public and private schools all within a short distance, saving your kids (and you ) precious time with a quick commute to school.

Living In Ladue

Ladue has a low walk score of 9, meaning most residents require a car to get around. However, there is a bus connection in the nearby town of Clayton that provides relatively fast access to downtown St. Louis. Ladue is also only about 20 minutes away from downtown St. Louis by car, meaning you can be in one of the greatest cities in the Midwest in no time at all. Visit the Missouri History Museum to learn about St. Louis' past, go watch the Cardinals play at Busch Stadium, or bring your kids to the St. Louis Zoo to see everything from elephants to wild cats.

Ladue also offers plenty of reasons to skip St. Louis when you feel like keeping it local. Take a seat at Companion Cafe to sip coffee amongst d̩cor described as "lady's tea room" or stop by Truffles where you can enjoy delicacies such as Free Range Missouri Chicken Breast with a glass of wine. You can often see locals at any one of the many quality establishments in the neighborhood.

Ladue is the type of place that features a seasonal newsletter telling residents about all the great and interesting events that are taking place locally, whether it's the Dogwood Parade and Festival or a charity fundraiser. If all that is not enough to convince you to move to Ladue, just remember that miniature horse and all the carrots you can feed it once you move next door.
