Originally home to the Pawtucket Indian tribe, Newburyport was once a part of Newbury proper, a fishing and trading center established in the 1630s. The split in town was caused by the prosperity of the port -- whose densely-occupied waterfront broke off to become Newburyport in 1764, and an icon of maritime history and success.
Located on the charming North Shore, not far from the cultural enclave of Boston, Newburyport offers gorgeous ocean views and quaint charm, as well as many community activities and a wealth of housing options
